These shots of Carol were taken by myself and others in the photography club. While indiscriminate shooting wasn’t allowed then either, we didn’t worry
about pictures nearly as much as people seem to today. ~ The photography club was just another of SVG’s many offerings. ~ There were auto repair facilities and equipment, archery, tennis, VB (of course), an outdoor dance
pavillion, a pear shaped gunnite pool, shallow on the small end and a 2 meter board at the other. ~ There was a hot tub, steam room and a dry heat room too, along with common showers and toilets, a restaurant and a store.
They had some rather inovative events, I believe, for the 60’s... ~ Bare as you dare dances. ~ The ‘keyhole’ picture above was the entranceway. ~
On New Year’s Day there was a nude ice skaing party on and around the pool. ~ During the summer rains people wore see-through plastic raincoats. ~ If it was a joke or they were just a fad I’m not sure, but I thought it was funny. ;->
As newbies, we were told to ‘wipe well’ when we ‘went’. ~ Towels were not yet a thing to carry and use but people were conscious of poop in the wrong places.
~ Dressing and undressing was to be done in as much privacy as could be arranged. ~ Women in panties and bra were considered ‘inticing’. ~ It was also suggested that we ‘trim’ ourselves.. ~ A neat and orderly
patch and not a wild and wolley one...
:-) ~ There was no liquor for sale... ~ Perhaps that was the Canadian blue laws at work, cause I know Karl likes a beer now and then.., but I don’t remember seeing any alcohol consumed on the grounds. ~ I did get hooked on Orange Crush though. ~ That was really good stuff back then. ~ Probably spiked with enough caffeen to equal a whole pot of coffee, eh?
We were going there at the time Rudi Gernich came out with the topless bathing suit.~ Karl supported that concept entirely. ~ Not at all like the clubs
today that fear any nudity outside their control.
