Brushwood

Brushwood is a pretty nice place.  ‘Laid back’ as it was when I was there, between events and all, but I met many nice people... It's an alternative place..; totally accepting of whatever your lifestyle happens to be.. Like pagans and hippies and whatever else. The first guy I ran into was a regular there and told him I was a nudist.  He said that was just great.  Like he thought I was a textile compulsive or something equally sinister at first? <g>  He said Brushwood was a place for everyone to enjoy. It seems the only time they require the ‘front’ area go with clothes is a two week long, public music festival in July.., and that is *still* ok in some instances, back among the regular campers, etc.

So I went in with the bike, drove around and looked it over first. The main area is a large open area perhaps 4 football fields large... There are about 200 acres altogether... Along one  side of the open area was a road within the first line of trees, with tents and other semi-permanent camp sites set up.  There are many fire rings and 'gathering' spots around the grounds.. One massive 'round house' as it’s called, is about 100 ft in diameter and 30-40 ft to it’s peak in the center.   It looks something like a dome.., made up of large, stripped of bark and branches, tree trunks supported and angled inward around the circle. They are 6 to 8 inches thick at the bottom but thin out to nothing near the peak in the center...

There is a nice, heated, concrete and tile, 4 ft deep pool within a sort of enclosed pavilion... The pavilions has 1/2 height walls enclosing it. There is an 8 person hot tub and a couple of open showers in that same structure.

I met a bunch of people and was invited to a picnic. Beer and hamburgers and hot dogs.  Some were nudists. I met a guy from Buffalo <Ron> and one <Kurt> who founded the Pittsburgh non landed club 20 years ago. It's still going but he's not there any more.  There was Chris <a guy>.   A couple named Bob and Sabina, Josh and Ray <A girl>.   All were nude.  A few knew people I did.  Like Rhoda and others from Friends of Buffalo and Jim Zohn from L.V. in Ft. Erie.  And they were interested in the other things we do up here. Like Toronto ORB, etc.  It was a great time and I'll go again for sure.   About 1-1/2 hour south of Buffalo.

Just a little info I though you'd be interested in.  :-)
